Divers' Dreams - The dream was conceived some time back but the shop itself was only officially started in June 1999 by David Wong, a PADI Master Instructor (#57679).

David has been an instructor since 1992 and was previously working as a full-time instructor for Pro Diving Services, a PADI 5-star Instructor Development Course (IDC) Center, in Singapore. With lots of encouragement and support from friends, he decided to start off on his own doing something he loves and enjoy. Besides teaching diving, David also does a lot of U/W Photography during his leisure dives. For those that remember the DECOM STOP magazine, he was one of the main photo contributor and also had a column "Sea Singapore" in that magazine. He has also contributed photographs to ASIAN DIVER and his biggest photographic project was with MICHAEL AW'S "24-hrs Under the Rainbow Sea" , where a team of world-wide U/W Photographers and Videographers did a 24-hours round-the-clock dives on a submerged reef in the Maldives. His photographs, along with others, were put together in a pictorial almanac of the same title.

How did the name "Divers' Dreams" come about?

When David first decided to set up shop, there was a friendly competition among a few close friends in deciding what to name the shop. As teaching diving and U/W photography are his passions, he wanted a name that can relate to both. Seascapes, Coralscapes, Oceanscapes, Bottom-Time, David's Dive Center were just some names that was enthusiatically debated upon. Somehow, either they were too common or simply not suitable, none of them were chosen.

With many names put forth and none chosen, up to the very day when David was to register his business, he awoke with a simple word - "Dreams". Why not "Divers' Dreams" for the name of the shop?

Divers' is a word that most people, whether you are a diver or not, can relate to in diving.

Dreams. Don't we all have dreams? Dreams of achieving what you want in life and working towards that dream. David has achieved his dream of doing what he loves and enjoy (and getting paid for it!) and being his own boss. For non-divers who has watched documentaries and seen pictures of the beautiful and colourful marine life under the ocean and dreams to be part of it. We can help them to achieve those dreams. For divers who has countless encounters and memories of the ocean realm. They are just it - memories! Memories, as we all know, fades as time wears on. By offering U/W photography as a specialty and in conjunction with Sea & Sea Underwater Camera Equipment, we can help you in capturing those encounters and memories to make it last for a long time to come.
