Course Contents:

Be more prepared in becoming a PADI Instructor. This course builds upon the roles of the Divemaster and concentrate on developing teaching skills. Through self-study, classrooms and practicals, you will learn to construct effective teaching presentations to conduct PADI programs. This would help in preparing you for the IDC program to achieve your PADI Instructor rating.

PADI Assistant Instructors need not attend the full curriculum presentations of the 8-day IDC program but this will be at the discretion of the PADI Course Director.

Academic 20 to 25 hrs depending on the number of candidates but excluding self-study Course orientation, Dive theory pre-assessment, PADI system of Diver Education, Effective Academic, Confined Water & Open Water presentations. How to organise and conduct PADI Experience programs. Review of the RDPs. General Standards and Procedures review.

Pool 2 sessions with a total of 4 to 5 hrs depending on the number of candidates Skills evaluation Pre-assessment. Confined water teaching presentations.

Open Sea 2 dives in 1 day Open water teaching presentations. Peak Performance Buoyancy workshop.

The Assistant Instructor course can only be conducted by a PADI Course Director, a PADI Master Instructor (with a renewed IDC Staff Instructor rating) and a renewed IDC Staff Instructor.

Pre-requisite:

Certified PADI Divemaster or equivalent
At least 18 years old
Be certified fit for diving by a licensed physician within the past 12 months
Completed and logged at least 60 dives
Successfully complete a knowledge and skill assessments

Academics on any evening available. Local dives on any Sunday.

Duties of the PADI Assistant Instructor:

Present the academic elaboration for any PADI diver course under the indirect supervision of a PADI Instructor
Teach and certify PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Specialty under the direction of a PADI Instructor
Independently conduct the Discover Scuba (pool only) experience
Teach and certify PADI Medic First-Aid (MFA) upon successful completion of a MFA instructor course
Teach and certify students in a non-diving specialty, such as Equipment Specialist or distinctive Oxygen Administation course upon successful completion of the relevant Specialty Instructor ratings.
